Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then found many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior representative stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
