Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved four early chances in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
